I recently did a training class for a group of affiliates in a successful nutrition company. Before the 4-week training started I sent them a questionnaire to learn more about them.
Among other questions I asked what they thought of their products and the company, and how did they feel about MLM. Eight of the ten responded that they loved the company and they loved the product but they did not like Network Marketing.
During the last several months we have been interviewing people in industry and that is one of the questions we ask. The majority of the people interviewed said they did not like NWM and the stigma attached to it.
What is amazing is that people say they dislike MLM and then they go ahead and sign up in another MLM opportunity.
It is not surprising when they do not succeed. Why get involved in something that they have such a negative opinion of? Do they think they can deny their negative thoughts and feelings about the business model? Do they believe their true feelings won’t eventually catch up with them?
Our clients that are highly successful in network marketing are the ones that genuinely love the business model. They love what it can do for them. They genuinely believe that MLM is a great business model. When they talk to others that belief becomes contagious because they honestly project positive enthusiasm.
Sometimes network marketers imply that theirs is not MLM when in reality it is. Some imply that no selling is necessary. That does more to harm the network marketing reputation than anything else.
If you can't find your way to a positive attitude about the business, then it is not for you. You will be stopped by your negative beliefs.
Think about the elephant in your room. It is your opinion that is keeping you from sharing in the $Billions that are being made in the industry.
Where did you get your negative opinions?
What was your experience?
Who was involved?
Are you condemning an entire industry on a narrow piece of information?
Those are tough questions, without a doubt. Finding your answers might well be your key to success. You can’t ignore something as big as an elephant.
My partner Ty is excellent at helping people overcome the blocks that are stopping them from succeeding. He is presenting a one-time pilot course, The Home-Based CEO, and one of the course sessions explores the negative MLM mindset and guides the participants in finding ways to change their attitude.
It is better to be honest about what you think rather than deceiving yourself that you can make it work. It is a good business model but you have to be courageous about your beliefs and not let the thinking of others discourage you.
When there's an elephant in the room introduce him.

The business model is not the reason. It is a valid and fair construction. Yet most people immediately associate it with scams, or top-weighted schemes where only the creators make money.
Despite its poor reputation it is a growing industry generating billions of dollars of annual revenue.
It is the easiest way for an entrepreneur to turn their investment into profit.
This is an ongoing research project to learn the causes of the high failure rate from individuals that are, or have been, actively involved in the industry.
We believe this information will be valuable to network marketers and will help them develop winning strategies in their businesses.
